HH Mail import problem

Postby Parket » Sun Jul 29, 2012 6:20 am

I'm trying to import hands that I requested through mail from PokerStars. These are hands that were played on Android, so I have no alternative to get the hands.

The mail import is failing though, and when looking at the mails, it seems like long lines have been split up :
*********** # 1 **************
PokerStars Hand #83975758993: Tournament #593483883, $6.45+$0.55 USD Ho=
ld'em No Limit - Level VIII (150/300) - 2012/07/28 22:33:39 CET [2012/0=
7/28 16:33:39 ET]

This is from a GMail account. Not sure whether the splitting is done by PokerStars or by GMail.
Any suggestions ?

Should have realized this earlier, but of course I can just check my GMail account before importing the mails. It turns out that they look fine in GMail with no split lines. So either they get split upon retrieving through POP, or it's just PT4 that splits them when writing them out in the Processed folder...

EDIT: it does look like it's GMail after all. I tried to save a local copy of a HH mail. For this, you select Show Original in GMail. When I do this, I get the mail in ASCII in a separate browser window and it has the exact same splitting of long lines. The easiest solution would be to have the HH mails sent to a different mail address, but for some reason this is currently not working in PokerStars.

You can set up a redirect in GMail's advanced filtering options I believe to forward any mail that matches a specific TO field to forward elsewhere. That might work well for you.

I tried manually forwarding them to my regular ISP's mail account. The mail did look fine in Outlook, but when I tried the PT4 import, I got the same problem and the Processed folder showed the same splitting. So it looks like GMail is already doing that upon receipt :(.

If you use PT4's built in "Import from Email" function it will decode these properly. The splitting is part of a standard email format which we understand and can process properly.

Ok, with some manual work, I got them imported. I forwarded them all to my ISP mail and then opened them in Outlook and saved them as .txt. Then they didn't have split lines and could import them in 1 go with Import From Directory.

No, that's the whole point. Import From Email did not work properly for these HH mails. It has always worked for tourney summaries, but for these HH mails it simply did not work.
Should I file a ticket ?

Is it possible that there are different line terminator characters in this line wrapping ? PT4 really never manages (AFAIK) to reconstruct the original mail. It's definitely sth like that causing the problem, as I fwd'ed one of my HH mails to support and WhiteRider confirmed that it imported fine for him.
I tried several things and all failed:
* Tried GMail
* Tried my own ISP's mail
* Tried PT4 on XP Pro
* Tried PT4 on W7 Home Premium

In all cases, the Processed folder shows the same splitting: all long lines are 72 characters long with a '=' as last character.
