PokerStars tournament import error (too long level code)

Postby mmore1q3 » Tue Dec 22, 2009 3:46 pm

When I managed to get upto the level 28 in a tournament on Sunday, PTO 1.13.05e started throwing import errors.

Pokerstars uses roman numerals for tournament levels in hand histories, and level 28 is 'XXVIII' and is thus 6 characters long, and that seems to cause the import error.

I pondered about the problem for a few minutes and then found the exact problem (too long level code for the field) and invented a mitigating solution which also verfies the reason for the error:
Manually editing the hand history for a shorter level code (e.g. XXVII), enables PTO to import the hands of that level.

SQL error from postgreSQL seems to directly point to reason being field-length of only 5 characters, and when I checked the table through pgAdmin, it showed the field to be 5 characters long.

Yes, that is the solution. It is a rare situation that won't be a problem after Omaha gets added to PT3.
