Basic Setup

Postby tacticaltal » Fri Sep 26, 2008 5:08 am

well, I can't get this to work for me.

using the trial version of PAHUD
PT2
PokerStars

Here's what I'm assuming, please correct me if I'm wrong:
both PT2 and HUD are to be running at same time
PT2 must retrieve the HHs from STARS
HUD retrieves stats from PT2, and
HUD displays the stats on the STARS table

I'm not very computer literate, so please bear with me.

If the above is correct, then, how should I set up BOTH HUD and PT2?
Should I be setting anything to receive Tournaemnt Summaries from my email? I thought this was used only after the tournament was ended.

The following screenshots is where I am right now (in PT)

[ img ]
In the Use: box, should I select POP/email/File on PC? Currently using file, and it's directed to the folder where Stars sends my HHs.

[ img ]
Do I need to change anything here? Timer?

[ img ]
The timer here is set for 5 minutes, while the other two are set for 2: problem there?

The current documentation for PAHUD isn't very forthcoming for the illiterate folks like myself. PT3 documentation is, otoh, very good, but I don't have that version. :(

Have you tried the free trial version of PT3? Is there a reason you're still using PT2 and PAH?

I'm not sure about the tournament summary import, but as you said you don't need to worry about that until after the tournament finishes.
You need to get the hands importing first, and for that you need to configure the PokerStars auto import window.
It looks like you haven't got the hand history folder configured properly - it just says "c:\program". This could be a display error, but I don't think so. Click the Help link on that window to get it set up. You need to have PT2 importing hands before PAH will work.

I'll move this thread to the PT2 section of the forum.

Once you have PT2 importing hands (you will need to be playing - you can't import observed hands from Stars), then have a look at the PAH documentation for configuring it to work with Stars.

..and if you're still having trouble, post back.

Still using PT2 cause of finances, and besides, it's still new to me :)

As to the c:\program, I noticed that too, and browsed to the proper folder and selected it, but it didn't change it in the HH location field that you're seeing. PT2 is importing hands, though, but not during play using the Auto request. I had an error about some type of "handle" problem; I don't remember now what it said.

I'm going to post some screenshots of how I've got HUD configured in a moment. Hopefully that can help you help me.

Thanks for the reply, WhiteRider, and I apologize for putting this in the wrong forum.

Do you see anything out of the ordinary here?

I'll check and see what I can do as to your previous suggestions, and hopefully this will fire up.

Thanks again,

That's not how you request tournament summaries for PokerStars, see this FAQ
viewtopic.php?f=30&t=1372

For hand histories, you use the PokerStars auto-import window to point it to the c:\program files\pokerstars\handhistory folder.

Talking about the Generic setup?

I was tring to use that for timed requests to use with PAHUD. Obviously, I don't know what I'm doing, so any help? Should I change that?

PAHUD reads the data from the PT database, you need to get PT to import the hands from PokerStars before it will work. To import PokerStars hands, open the File > Auto-Import.. > PokerStars window, click the help link at the top right corner and follow the directions there for making sure that PokerStars is saving the files to the hard drive and that you are pointing PT to the right folder.

If PT is setup correctly and it's actually importing hands then you should post this issue on the PAHUD forum so that one of those guys can help with it, they don't always check the PT forum.

It's the same site, it's just there are different support sections for PT3, PT2, PAHUD, PTO and PTS

viewforum.php?f=22

And use the New Topic button to create a thread on the PAHUD section.
