General question regarding importing and duplicates

Postby chipstar » Thu Nov 13, 2008 6:44 pm

I'm not sure if i should post this in this section or the pahud section but i'll give it a go here.

I recently had to format my computer and before i did i saved all my hands, my db is pretty big and now pokertracker is only importing around 20k hph with postgres, i have getten 70-80k hph when the database has been new so i'm thinking of creating another datbase to import the rest of the hands.

Here's my question...

If i have two pokertracker posgres database's with say 1m hands in each and one of the db's contains 100k duplicate hands that are in the other database. When you select both database's in pahud will the stats of those 100k hands be duplicated on my hud stats?

Thanks

I don't think that PAHUD has a way to tell which hands are duplicates, so you would likely get duplication of data for those hands, but I will check for you to be sure.

I've just created two new access database's to test it, i imported the same 305 hands into each one, checked one villian with one db selected and i had 31 hands on him, selected the second database and it increased to 62 hands so it does duplicate :(

I still don't understand why my postgres database is importing slow tho, i have a pretty fast machine and have had upto 5m hands in the database without slowdowns, could still import 70k hands an hour with 5m, my database is alot smaller than that now and it's struggling to import 1/3 of that.

That is correct. It would be way too processor intensive for PAH to check for duplicates across databases therefore it does not do this. It simply pulls the stats from every database selected and sums them together.
